Learners move step by step from basic IoT concepts to practical hands‑on work with Node‑RED, MQTT brokers, ThingSpeak, IBM Bluemix, and AWS IoT, all using easy visual tools and simple examples.
You will see how data travels from sensors to local gateways and finally to the cloud, and how to create dashboards without complex coding. The course ends with IoT security basics such as TLS and AES so that students understand how to protect devices and data in real projects.
What you will Learn
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe the basic IoT architecture: devices, gateways, networks, cloud platforms, and applications.
- Explain key IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, and CoAP, and when to use each one.
- Install and use Node‑RED for graphical, flow‑based programming of IoT logic and dashboards
- Connect Node‑RED to an MQTT broker (local and remote) to send and receive IoT messages.
- Send sensor or sample data to cloud platforms like ThingSpeak, IBM Bluemix, and AWS IoT and create simple dashboards.
- Understand the basics of IoT security using TLS and AES for protecting data in transit.
